Rock Island opened in Pererenan, on the edge of Canggu, in September 2025 and bills itself as the largest climbing gym in Indonesia. It has around 800 m² of climbing surface across two floors of bouldering plus top-rope and lead routes up to 12 metres, with 15 top-rope anchors, 12 lead anchors and auto belays, a Kilter Board and a strength-training zone.
Newcomers can book an Intro to Boulder class (from age 5) or a Sunday-morning Top Rope class that teaches belaying (from age 8); intro-to-lead sessions and private coaching are also offered, and all classes include a day pass and rental gear. Shoes, harnesses, chalk bags, belay devices and ropes are available to hire.
Beyond the walls there is a café, a co-working space and a small retail area, plus a Family Climbing Lab for parents and children. It suits holidaymakers looking for a rainy-day activity as much as Canggu-based climbers wanting a full rope gym.
Weekend afternoons are busiest. First visit? Allow time for the safety briefing.
