Koh Tao is best known for diving, but its granite sea cliffs also offer rock climbing. Goodtime Adventures has been running climbing on the island since 2008 and maintains more than 200 routes, with courses from a first climb up to trad.
A half-day Discover Rock Climbing session costs ฿2,600. Top rope and lead climbing are both on offer, along with longer courses. Goodtime Adventures hires out gear and has a café, so you do not need to bring your own equipment.
Granite climbs differently from the limestone of Krabi, with more friction and more crack climbing. The island's wettest months are usually October to December, so climbing days are most reliable outside that period. Climb early or late in the day to avoid the strongest sun on the cliffs.
