Thailand has 16 climbing venues on Climb Go Where, and it is the region's best-known destination for outdoor sport climbing. Krabi has five guide services at Railay and Tonsai: Hot Rock Climbing School, King Climbers, Real Rocks Climbing, Basecamp Tonsai and The Rock Shop. Chiang Mai Rock Climbing Adventures guides at Crazy Horse Buttress in the north, and Goodtime Adventures climbs the granite sea cliffs of Koh Tao.
Bangkok has seven indoor gyms. Stonegoat (Sukhumvit 69 and The PARQ) and Balance (Rama 9 and Sathorn) focus on bouldering, while Urban Playground Climbing on Sukhumvit 49 and Rock Domain in Bang Na have rope walls. Bangkok day passes run from ฿300 on weekdays at Stonegoat S69 to ฿595 at weekends at Urban Playground. Outside the capital, REBEL Rock Climbing in Phuket and Progression Vertical Climbing Gym in Chiang Mai offer lead, top rope and bouldering.
Half-day guided climbs in Krabi start at ฿1,200. The cooler, drier months from around November to March are the main season for outdoor climbing in both the south and the north, while the rainy season brings wet rock and fewer climbing days. Bring light clothing and plenty of water, and start early to avoid climbing in direct sun.
