Chiang Mai Rock Climbing Adventures (CMRCA) has run climbing and caving trips around Chiang Mai for over 20 years. Its main crag is Crazy Horse Buttress near Mae On, which has more than 300 bolted routes. Guides are trained to AMGA (American Mountain Guides Association) standards. Trips leave from the company's Progression Vertical gym in the city, and the ride out is by local red truck (songthaew).
The signature Chiang Mai Rock Climbing Adventure (฿3,995 per person) runs 8am–5.30pm. It includes guided climbing, a Thai lunch, and a big abseil into the Anxiety State Crisis Cave, and no experience is needed. Other options include Intro to Rock Climbing, Outdoor Top Rope Essentials, single- and multi-pitch private guiding, vertical caving, family adventures and gear rental. CMRCA also publishes the CragFinder guide for Crazy Horse and nearby crags.
It suits first-timers wanting a full day out on rock, and experienced climbers who want a guide or partner at Crazy Horse.
Weekend afternoons are busiest. First visit? Allow time for the safety briefing.
