Climb Go Where

Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai has two climbing venues on Climb Go Where, both run by the same team. Chiang Mai Rock Climbing Adventures (CMRCA) guides at Crazy Horse Buttress in Mae On, east of the city, where there are more than 300 bolted limestone routes. Progression Vertical Climbing Gym in Pa Daet is the city's indoor gym, with top rope, lead and bouldering walls, a café and youth programmes.

A full-day Crazy Horse climbing adventure costs ฿3,995, and courses and private guiding are also available. At Progression, an adult day pass is ฿250 (฿200 for juniors), with gear hire and intro classes for beginners.

The best season for outdoor climbing is the cool, dry period from around November to February. March and April are hot and can be smoky from seasonal burning, and the rainy season from around June to October brings wet rock. The gym is a useful backup on wet or hazy days.
