Hong Kong has 10 climbing gyms on Climb Go Where, most of them bouldering gyms. JUST CLIMB runs bouldering gyms in Taikoo (Quarry Bay), San Po Kong and Tsuen Wan, plus a rope gym with auto-belays at Kai Tak Sports Park. Other bouldering options include n bouldering in Wan Chai, Attic V in Wong Chuk Hang, Tanuki Bouldering in To Kwa Wan, Butterfly Climbing Gym in Kwai Chung and The Player Climbingym in Mei Foo.
For roped climbing, Hong Kong Climbing Park in Sha Tin has top rope and lead walls, and JUST CLIMB Kai Tak has top rope, lead and auto-belays. Adult day passes are mostly HK$278 to HK$288, with student rates of around HK$248 and cheaper off-peak entry at Butterfly (HK$138 weekday early bird) and n bouldering (HK$180 weekday off-peak).
Every gym runs intro classes, and most have kids' sessions and shoe hire. Off-peak weekday sessions are quieter and cheaper. If you plan to climb on ropes, expect to show your belay skills or take an assessment before climbing with a partner. Bouldering gyms need no partner, so they are the easiest way to start.
